Sweeney for Governor of New Jersey
Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 19 proudly endorses Steve Sweeney for
Governor of New Jersey
A fellow union member. A proven leader. The right choice for New Jersey.
Steve Sweeney has spent his life standing up for working families. As an ironworker and longtime public servant, Steve knows what it means to fight for the rights of working families across New Jersey because he’s one of us.
After his daughter, Lauren, was born with Down syndrome, Steve ran for office to fight for those without a voice. He’s never forgotten where he came from — and as Senate President, he spent years fighting for New Jersey’s working families and organized labor.
Steve’s accomplishments include:
- Sponsored and passed a bill extending prevailing wage protections to custom fabrication work, ensuring our shops are covered.
- Allowed workers to collect unemployment while on strike.
- Passed legislation instituting card check organizing, making it easier for workers to unionize.
- Implemented a prevailing wage on all projects using public money and many other projects across New Jersey.
- Passed the Securing Our Children's Future Bond Act, allocating $500 million for Vocational Schools.
- Allocated $1 billion for the construction of higher education facilities through the Building Our Future Bond Act.
- Sponsored the Workplace Democracy Enhancement Act, protecting collective bargaining rights for public employees.
- And so much more!
STEVE HAS ALWAYS STOOD WITH WORKING PEOPLE.
NOW IT’S OUR TURN TO STAND WITH HIM.
Through his New Jersey Builders’ Agenda, Steve plans to invest in our infrastructure, energy, and affordable housing, creating good-paying union jobs and ensuring that local people benefit from the prosperity of New Jersey.
